Welcome To St. Nicholas Cathedral

The history of the Cathedral located in Los Angeles, California, is truly a story of people of vision, courage, dedication, leadership and religious conviction. It is the story of the needs of many Orthodox families who had settled in the greater Los Angeles area since the turn of the twentieth century. It is a story of those who had devoted their lives to the service of our community, of leaders who are no longer with us but who shall always remain dear in our hearts because of their wisdom, love and accomplishments. Their legacy continues today.

Celebrating Our 75th Anniversary

We enjoyed a wonderful climax of our year-long 75th Anniversary celebration, led by Metropolitan Saba and Bishop Anthony, April 25-26. Enjoy this video documentary that reviews those years and looks forward to a bright future.

Also enjoy some photo highlights HERE from Metropolitan Saba's visit to the Cathedral and other some of our daughter churches that he took the opportunity to visit on this trip to Southern California.

And even more photos HERE for the record-smashing induction of 51 new or upgrading members of the Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch at the Liturgy on Sunday, April 26.

Christmas Service Schedule
Schedule for Services Christmas Eve • جدول الخدمات لعيد الميلاد

Wednesday, December 24, 2025 • الأربعاء 24 كانون الاول

With the angels, the shepherds, the wise men and all the saints, let us come to adore Him Christmas Eve.

8:45 a.m.         Royal Hours of Christmas

10:30 a.m.      Divine Liturgy
(Paramon of Christmas)

While we encourage all to come to both the morning and night services (which are not the same), this may be an excellent opportunity for those who cannot drive after dark, for young children and entire families to celebrate the birth of Christ together.

8:00 p.m.        Christmas Matins

9:30 p.m.        CHRISTMAS DIVINE LITURGY

This is the traditional Christmas ‘midnight’ Liturgy, but we’re starting as early as possible, given that it is winter, and will be dark for a while already.

A reception will follow to break the Fast.

ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 12:12-17
In those days, Peter went to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose other name was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying. And when he knocked at the door of the gateway, a maid named Rhoda came to answer. Recognizing Peter's voice, in her joy she did not open the gate but ran and told that Peter was standing at the gate. They said to her, "You are mad." But she insisted that it was so. They said, "It is his angel!" But Peter continued knocking; and when they opened, they saw him and were amazed. But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, "Tell this to James and to the brethren." Then he departed and went to another place.
JOHN 8:42-51
The Lord said to the Jews who came to him, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I proceeded and came forth from God; I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But, because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God; the reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God. The Jews answered him, "Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?" Jesus answered, "I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it and he will be the judge. Truly, truly, I say to you, if any one keeps my word, he will never see death.
